Details:
On the evening of Wednesday, August 14th we proudly presented Jamison Williamson (FL) and Patrizia Finzi’s (Luxemborg) free/doom duo Book 4, performance artist/experimental musician Nick Weckman (CMH), and experimental electronic musician Doug Leed(CMH) in collaboration with AI/moving image artist Krista Faist (CMH).
About the artists:
BOOK 4, a free/doom duo with bari sax player Jamison Williams, and electric bassist Patrizia Finzi, is a ritualistic commemoration, paying homage to British occultist and writer, Aleister Crowley…”The Magician works in a Temple; the Universe, which is [be it remembered!] conterminous with himself.”
Nick “Njick” Weckman has a zest for life and is excited to share a new sound that stems from his love for the avant garde as he constructs a vocal sound fortress of made up languages that integrate with dance and story-telling.
Doug Leed (aka Dogboy) is an extemporaneous instrumentalist and digital artist from Columbus, OH. Having played guitar in traditional rock bands for over 30 years, he now also plays a combo of touch pad synthesizers, loopers, and effects pedals to create psychedelic and experimental soundscapes. Doug has collaborated with a range of musicians and artists from around Central Ohio; current projects include The Swappers with Jeremy Wendling and Nyctalopia with Brian Werstler and Bill Stoner.
VR/AI/moving image artist Krista’s physical work is largely comprised of watercolor crayon and reductive wax paintings on decorative plate glass, as well as intricate sculptures made from found objects and junk store items. With both mediums, she has sought to represent aesthetic over-stimulation that leads to expansiveness of imagination and wonder, much like that experienced in childhood when one visits a candy shop. As a child, she had a strong desire to see all colors and textures at once, including colors never seen before. With each project, she sets out to re-capture this feeling of simulated desire and satisfaction. She believes that this desire to satiate our hunger for wonderment with consumerist impulses is innately human, and her aim is to bring this incongruence to light via her immersive, audio reactive, and VR works.
