On Friday, September 1st we are proud to present Galaxxu Into the Parhelion of Imagined Truths (ORD), Abhilasha Chebolou’s free jazz group Turtle Boat (CMH), and Rinn Lee’s solo project Mimete (CMH). Doors 7:30pm, show begins at 8:00pm. Performance will take place in the Columbus Cultural Arts Center’s 3rd floor classroom. $8.00 online, $10 at the door.

About the artists: Galaxxu Into the Parhelion of Imagined Truths is a harsh chaotic punk free jazz improv space noise collective from Chicago and is comprised of Adams/Lyons/Ali/Labratio/Williams.
Turtle Boat features the compositions of Abhilasha Chebolu with additional contributions by Alex Burgoyne. Though diverse in experience, this band finds common ground through their shared investment in exploring the more introspective side of free playing. In addition to their capacious listening practice (informed by Arvo Pärt, Heavy Vegetable, the Smashing Pumpkins, Thingy, and YMCK as much as Ornette Coleman and Paul Motian), Turtle Boat pursues a generous improvisatory dynamic concerned with playing not what is possible, but what is necessary.
mimete is an experimental bedroom dreampop project influenced by Broadcast and Cocteau Twins, and inspired by dreamy visual art and aesthetics. Layered ethereal vocals and glitchy synth patterns create otherworldly sounds.
