We are proud to announce the launch of a new electronic music club at Dominion Middle School and scholarship program!
Integral to our mission of making experimental electronic music and sound and new media art accessible to Central Ohioans is our commitment to local talent development, which we provide through programming that accommodates the needs of local experimental musicians and artists for performance, exhibition, skill building, and networking opportunities.
Until now, most of our programming has been geared towards adults. We have long been discussing ways to expand our audience to include youth, and thanks to the encouragement of the Cultural Arts Center and the support of the Ohio Arts Council and the Danny Toffey Foundation, we are now able to do just that!
The grants from the OAC and the Danny Toffey Foundation have made it possible for us to integrate local experimental musicians into the DMS after school electronic music club by having them serve as instructors and mentors. This is where YOU, our supporters, come in: because we are starting this club entirely from scratch, we are seeking to raise funds to purchase the electronic music equipment and gear the club’s students will use in order to learn how to create, share, and perform their own original electronic and electro-acoustic music compositions.
We are also raising funds for a new scholarship program! Starting October 2023, we will start offering 6-week courses covering the fundamentals of Ableton Live. These courses are much more intensive than our workshops, and our new scholarship program will allow us to continue our commitment to our educational programming’s affordability and accessibility. It is our hope that our scholarship program will enable the students in the DMS electronic music club, as well as other middle and high schoolers enrolled in Columbus City Schools and schools in the surrounding areas, to take a deeper dive into the world of electronic and electro-acoustic music making.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will be greatly appreciated! We value your continued support and belief in our mission to uplift forward-thinking, risk-taking, technology-exploring musicians and artists of all ages.
With gratitude,
Dr. Alison Colman, Fuse Factory Founding Director
