About the workshop
Virtual experiences allow us to be elsewhere while at the same time, being present: you are here, but you are also there. Within virtual experiences, the relationship between time and space becomes altered, sometimes to the point where the real and the virtual become indistinguishable.

In this workshop, students will have the opportunity to experience virtual environments with the Oculus Rift. Then, using a 360-degree video camera, workshop participants will then collaborate with one another to film and edit a collective virtual experience of their own, which they will be able to view with a Google Cardboard headset and their smartphones.

This workshop is supported by a grant from the Ohio Arts Council. Space for the workshop is being donated in-kind by the Ohio State University Department of Art.

Required
This is an introductory-level workshop. No previous experience using Oculus Rift, Google cardboard, or a 360 video camera is required, but it is strongly suggested that all participants bring a smart phone.

Having a BFA in Art & Technology from The Ohio State University, Chris serves as the Media Manager and the Instructional Technologist in the Department of Dance and ASC Tech at OSU. When not creating artwork, Chris enjoys coffee, being outside with his newfie, playing soccer, and coming up with reasons to have pizza for dinner as often as possible.
