Summer Camps 2026
We will be offering several week long summer camps at the Fran Ryan Community Center (865 Capital St. 43205) through Columbus Parks and Recreation: Camp Amplifier (June 8-12, June 15-18), Camp Music Improvisation (June 22-26, June 29-July 2), and Camp Oscillator (July 13-17, July 20-24, and July 27-31). All camps will run from 11am-3pm, with before care being offered from 10:30am-11:00am and after care being offered from 3:00pm-3:30pm. These camps will provide children between the ages of 11 and 14 the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of electronic music making and improvisational music.
Full camp descriptions:
Camp Amplifier: In this stimulating and engaging camp, campers will learn the fundamentals of electronic music production, including sound design, arrangement, and mixing. Campers will also learn fundamentals of music improvisation. The camp will conclude with the campers putting on a musical performance for family and friends. No previous programming or musical experience is necessary.
Music improvisation camp: In this unique and engaging camp, campers will learn the fundamentals of musical improvisation such as active listening, creating a flowing melodic line and experimenting using sound, space and interaction to shape a piece. They will also have musical guests illustrating the different concepts and listen to a range of improvised music, from blues and bebop to free improvisation to ragas and more. The camp will conclude with the campers putting on an improvised musical performance for family and friends. No previous musical experience with jazz or improvising is necessary, however some experience learning how to play an instrument will be helpful.
Camp Oscillator: In this stimulating and engaging camp, campers will learn the fundamentals of electronic music production, including sound design, arrangement, and mixing.
