Andrew’s background spans both traditional and new media. His training began in his mother’s studio as he learned decorative painting, interior design, and color theory while working for such celebrities as Antonio Banderas, Melanie Griffith, Phil Hartman, Clint Eastwood, and Madonna. Andrew was accepted to The Ohio State University where he was awarded a Presidential Fellowship and received a Master’s Degree in Fine Art with a focus on New Media and Technology.
His interest in software began with creating simple games with Logo on school PCs, and eventually moving on to applications in HyperCard on his Mac Plus. In the early days of the web, he worked at Paramount Studios for the Star Trek Continuum website. He has also worked as an eLearning developer creating training modules and enterprise software for clients such as Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Adobe, and the US Army.
Andrew’s research is about methods and tools for teaching. He has created platforms for designing rolling-ball sculpture from flat material, and for exploring vibration-powered robot morphologies. His current all-consuming project is Powder Of Life which is a multi-environment framework for building cybernetic entities and installations.
