About the artists:
Houston bassist and composer Thomas Helton is a multifaceted improviser and skilled interpreter of contemporary bass repertoire. Equally adept at playing jazz, classical, experimental and avant-garde music, Helton continues to push and redefine the possibilities of his instrument by embracing extended performance techniques and new compositional forms.
Columbus musicians Bill Stoner and Brian Werstler, on cello, electronics, and guitar, make up the duo Yul Brynner’s Ghost. The music is entirely improvised and may be inspired by other art, the days events, the spiritual, or perhaps a bad burrito.
Troy Kunkler, a self-described unabashed dilettante, specializes in mallet percussion and drum set. He performs with a lot of different bands, leads his own band, and performs as a soloist. His other interests include nature, running, travel and food.
