About the ensemble: Zack Kouns and His Insatiable Orchestra is principally constructed around the hermetic hillbilly songwriting of Zack Kouns that draws upon such diverse influences as his experiences growing up in rural Appalachia, the deep image poets, Tibetan Buddhism, dream work, mythopoetic fables, surrealist humor, scratchy, spectral century old Smithsonian field recordings and the intimate parallels of savagery and Grace. Propped up by the Insatiable Orchestra, featuring impeccable players with diverse backgrounds in classical, jazz and modern composition the result is a surprising, mysterious music that confounds genre and transgresses the borders of country music, creating a new creature unnamed and unknowable hiding in the bushes on a moonless night.
