On Thursday, March 7th, we are proud to present Asheville avant-folk chamber duo Okapi, along with experimental electronic music trio Cynders (CMH) and experimental electronic music duo Unquiet Slumbers. Doors 7:30pm, cover $5. BYOB, all ages.
About the performances and performers:
Okapi utilizes upright bass, cello, and voice through aggressive (yet intimate) orchestrations, which carry messages encouraging individual empowerment, healthy growth, and the conscious confrontation with reality.
Cynders (as in “burnt to”) is an instrumental 3 piece from Columbus. This trio uses a combination of synthesizers, sequencers, drum machines, touch pad synthesizers, loopers, bass guitar and effects pedals to extemporaneously improvise experimental soundscapes. Each performance is uniquely created in the moment. Their music can be described as the psychedelic space section of a live Grateful Dead performance meets modern electronica and industrial atmospherics meets Can.
Unquiet Slumbers is a duo project with Nathan-Andrew Leaflight (Shred Van Winkle) and Brian Werstler (Young Herlkimer, Abgyhr).
