About the artists:

Andris Balins and Casey Ruland have been playing music together for over 30 years. They have explored music without confines, inspired by the sounds of our surroundings, listening to the soundtrack of our lives. Buildings and Mountains became a vessel for Andris and Casey to experiment with sound, focusing on the waves, vibrations, and breath that flow all around us. Amidst our ever changing world, Buildings and Mountains focuses on making music that is fluid, constantly changing form and instrumentation. The core of the project focuses on the place humans have on this planet, the eternal push and pull with the world around us. Buildings and Mountains invite you to join in on this musical journey.

Full Load of King is the outlet for Andrew Izold’s varied musical output, which includes styles ranging from experimental pop to electronic ambient to pure noise. FLOK’s live performances focus on improvisational electronic music which ranges from the melodic to the experimental, the style being dependent on the audience’s feedback. FLOK has performed at previous Frequency Fridays events, the Summit Artspace in Akron Ohio as part of the FRESH art exhibition, the Peninsula Art Gallery in Peninsula Ohio, and at the 2023 Cassette Culture Celebration.

Andrew has played drums, bass, and guitar in numerous bands ranging from country to funk to punk. He has recorded and produced numerous releases for Cleveland-based artists such as Open Range Torch Songs and Emerald Frequency. In the late 80’s, Andrew formed the influential duo 10-Speed Guillotine with Jeff Chenault. He still occasionally collaborates with Jeff (and Dan Rockwell) in various settings, including the Circuitry Room project.
