About the artists:

Starting out as a vocalist and lyric writer, Truus de Groot’s career started at the beginning of the Punk Rock craze in 1976 in The Netherlands. She became passionate about experimental electronic instruments, which led her to design her own instruments, something she continues to do to this day. Her path has been a long and winding road around the world, collaborating with all types of people in a variety of genres and cultures. She is always looking for a new challenge, as she continues to seek exciting ways to express herself creatively through music, words, photography and film. With today’s cyberspace there are no more borders and creativity is abundant! There is a freedom to work with anyone in the world on a multi-media level. Many of her recent projects have been developed this way – this is a brand new level of collaboration for her that has proven to be very fruitful indeed.

Working under the name DREKKA since 1996, composer Michael Anderson has toured, traveled, and collaborated extensively, collecting memories and building a personalized archive of sound that dates back to the mid-1980’s. He has recorded and toured as a member of Lovesliescrushing, Turn Pale, In Gowan Ring, Stone Breath, Jessica Bailiff and many more artists. Throughout years of performing and recording, Anderson has explored early industrial tape culture, fragile bedroom noise-folk, and expansive cinematic textures, releasing a large body of work on labels such as Auris Apothecary, Dais, and Anderson’s own label, Bluesanct. His music and performance touch on themes of silence, dreams and memory; though rather than obscuring his identity, as can often be the effect of experimental music, DREKKA offers a direct insight into Anderson’s working mind and his tenuous cache of recollections. The personal and the delicate are not obfuscated by poetic abstractions, but on vivid display. While the notions of the “haunting”, “etherial” and “hypnogogic” are easy recourse in describing ambient music and art, DREKKA unequivocally occupies and deals in those dark spaces which comprise the ephemeral province of memory and dreams, the real ghosts of time and sound.

Habiteur is the solo project of Cincinnati-based musician Jack Davidson. He uses objects, repurposed electronics, tapes, and voice to create abstract sound. Jack also plays in the band Daumier and runs the Eminent Observer label.

10-Speed Guillotine are Columbus, Ohio’s electronic music pioneers. The group formed in 1989 is the brainchild of Ohio based artists Jeff Chenault (Central) and Andy Izold. They were lumped together with other cyberpunk bands during the early 90’s for their dark ambient sounds, bizarre samples and high-octane noise driven rhythms. 10-Speed officially retired in 1994 but continued to record side projects as The Sex Musicians and Resonance. In May 2019 10-Speed Guillotine reformed to play a 30-year reunion show at the El Club in Detroit, Michigan. The Columbus show on February 7th, 2020 will be their first show in Columbus since reforming last year.
