Factory Streams: Live Vids for Covid: Laura Woodswalker

January 14, 2022 @ 8:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Laura Woodswalker started her musical career as a banjo player for a women’s bluegrass band, later moving on to Grateful Dead bass, and finally keyboards and fiddle. In 2004 she had a transcendent experience when she encountered the Brood X 17-year cicadas’ hypnotic chorus. This inspired her to record the songs of insects, birds and frogs. She recorded an album titled ‘Insect Summer of Love”, composed entirely of nature sounds. This was her start in digital recording.

She then became interested in synths and MIDI. She found the Electro-Music Festival in Huguenot, NY and has been performing for them since 2010. She also supplied visuals by applying effects and crossfades to her original art. Other performance venues include Cosmic Crossing in Titusville NJ, Event Horizon in Philadelphia, a few local coffeehouses, and some streaming shows from home during the pandemic.

She uses hardware synths, sequencers and samples, including her nature sounds, to create compositions that are melodic, rhythmic, dreamy and mystical.
