About the artists:

Louise Bock‘s other known solo work includes Taralie Peterson, Tar Pet and the legendary psych band Spires that in the Sunset Rise. Taralie works with mainly sax, clarinet, cello, voice, and denatured lap harp. Her work combines the rarely explored territories of conceptual atonal/repetitive ideas with personal infection. Mystical, ecstatic, spiritual, dark, otherworldly explorations.

Stephan Haluska is a harpist, composer, and improviser based in Cleveland, OH. His music for harp examines the instrument’s unique textural, harmonic, and percussive qualities. Much of his music focuses on blending traditional and non-traditional harp playing through extended techniques, preparation, tools, electronics, and effects pedals. The harp has developed a mystical identity in western culture as the sound of angels in heaven, magic, and dream sequences. Considering these stereotypes, Haluska attempts to expand the instrument beyond its preconceived notions, creating new roles and opportunities for it, and to (de)mystify the harp. Haluska holds an MFA in Harp Performance with a concentration in Improvisation from Mills College and a BA in Music Composition from Bowling Green State University. He currently works as a freelance harpist performing standard harp repertory and original compositions and arrangements for solo harp. He teaches harp at The Music School Settlement in Cleveland and the Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood.

In his current practice, much of Kauffmann-Buehler‘s work explores the difference between the output of electronic media signals (images, video, sound) and what is perceived at the input. The journey and path of the signal (and how it is transformed by different processes) is very important, and has real-world implications which he explores in different types of work. Most of this work is in video and sound media, along with expanded installation and performance work.

Gerard Cox (b. 1976) is a pianist and drummer from Columbus with a keen interest in musical surrealism and the percussive nature of the piano. Born to a piano teacher Mom and a jazz saxophone hobbyist father, clear “rockstar” inclinations were shown at age 8 in an appearance as J.S. Bach at an OMTA music festival and at 10 as Billy Idol in a look-a-like contest for the national pop/rock magazine Star Hits. Cox developed a love for jazz in high school on through college, studying both jazz piano and B3 organ. While initially taken with the straight-ahead jazz of Art Blakey and Clifford Brown, he followed John Coltrane’s discography into his later period music and this proved to be the gateway for a fascination with free jazz and all kinds of other outsider/experimental music.

Joey Pigg has been one of the most active and prolific VJs in Columbus for about seven years, playing and/or putting on hundreds of shows. His residencies include: LeBoom at Skullys, Ignyte Events at Skullys 2015-2018, Sugar Bar 2 for 2012, Future Maudit at Cafe Bourbon Street/The Summit 2012-2014, Avalon 2013-2014. He currently VJ’s for Fleischgewehr and Relic and occasionally 3Teeth (in addition to their shows in Columbus, he’s been flown out to VJ for them in Los Angeles a couple of times). He has done visuals at Number Fest in Athens, Haunted Fest, Breakaway Fest, The Werkout, All Good, Resonance, Farm on Fire, Trauma, Drauma, and his own Vanguard shows at the Milo Arts gym in 2016 & 2017. Underground or commercial, small rooms or huge crowds in the 1000s, metal shows, EDM, Techno, Industrial, Hip Hop: he’s VJed a wide array of music and parties. In addition to conventional projection work, he is proficient at mapping, LED screens, and analogue CRT TV work.
