In this workshop, participants will learn how to make an electric canjo out of a tin can, sanded wood fingerboard, eye screws, acoustic guitar strings, and a piezo pickup soldered to short cord with a 1/4″ jack. If you wish to make another instrument instead, other options include: electric bobby pin thumb piano, PVC snake charmer, and copper wind chimes. The workshop will begin with a short discussion about sound vibration and rhythm to help participants experiment with sound on their instruments and create rhythm patterns.
