In this workshop, participants will learn how to generate binaural beats, and in the process learn the basics of the oscilloscope. Binaural beats (discovered by Heinrich Wilhelm Dove in 1839), or binaural tones, are auditory processing artifacts, or apparent sounds, caused by specific physical stimuli. The brain produces a phenomenon resulting in low-frequency pulsations in the amplitude and sound localization of a perceived sound when two tones at slightly different frequencies are presented separately, one to each of a subject’s ears, using stereo headphones. A beating tone will be perceived, as if the two tones mixed naturally, out of the brain.
The oscilloscope is an electronic measurement devices that can be used to observe the characteristics of a circuit in real time. It can also be used for debugging and hardware hacking.
