In winter and spring 2024 we continued our new electronic music after school program in partnership with Dominion Middle School and with support from the Ohio Arts Council and the Danny Toffey Foundation. In this program, students are given the opportunity to work with electronic and electroacoustic musician mentors from Columbus and other parts of the US to learn the basics of electronic music creation and improvisation. Students in the club are introduced to a range of approaches, electronic music terminology, and different types electronic music equipment and gear. They are also given opportunities to generate samples by recording the sounds they make with the mentors’ music equipment, and create their own compositions in Bandlab.
The 2023-2024 DMS electronic music after school club is supported by grants from the Ohio Arts Council and the Danny Toffey Foundation.
