SUMMARY:Workshop: Introduction to 3D Printing
DESCRIPTION:About the workshop\nIn this introductory-level\, hands-on workshop\, participants will be introduced to the basics of 3D printing\, and will have the opportunity to model and print a simple object with a 3D printer. Workshop topics include: \n\nWhat is 3D printing?\nWhat can you make with a 3D printer?\nOverview of different 3D printing technologies\nDesigning with 3D modeling and scanning\nCreating watertight 3D designs\nRepairing 3D files\nExporting 3D files\n\nThis workshop is supported by a grant from the Ohio Arts Council. Space for the workshop is being donated in-kind by the Ohio State University Department of Art. \nRequired\nNo previous experience with 3D printing or 3D computer modeling is required. \nAbout the instructor\nAndrew Frueh is a hacker\, open-source evangelist\, and critical maker. He designs systems with Arduino\, is very involved with fabrication (including designing a modular robotic platform\, and building a couple of 3D printers)\, and received his MFA from the Art and Tech program in the Department of Art at the Ohio State University. He is currently a lecturer and 3D Lab Supervisor for the OSU Department of Art. \nWorkshop location\nThe workshop will take place in 175 Hopkins Hall\, which is located on the South Oval mall on the Ohio State University campus.
