DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, April 15th\, we are excited to host drummer/electronic music producer Ravish Momin’s solo project Sunken Cages\, Rusty Skelding’s modular synthesizer project Noisteria Emission\, and Rinn Lee’s experimental dream-pop project mimete. Doors 7:30pm\, show begins at 8:00pm. Performance will take place in the Cultural Arts Center 3rd floor classroom. $8 online\, $10 at the door. \nOur touring musician program is supported by New Music USA. \nAbout the artists: \nSunken Cages is the moniker of drummer/electronic music producer Ravish Momin\, who started out as an acoustic drummer and percussionist a couple of decades ago. Momin studied with US Jazz master-drummer Andrew Cyrille. He has worked as a sideman with a wide array of musicians including avant-Jazz legend Kalaparush Maurice McIntyre (AACM/Chicago.) \nIn addition\, he has also led his own Jazz/global group Tarana on international stages for the past 14 years. As Sunken Cages\, Momin plays electronic and acoustic drums\, and triggers melodies and textures. He also layers loops while manipulating them in real-time to blur the lines between composition and improvisation. While rooted in Indian and Black Music traditions\, he is also influenced by the street sounds of underground dance music from Sao Paolo to Durban to Mumbai and beyond. He is signed to OnTheCorner Records (UK). He has done remixes for renowned global electronic music producers Batida (Portugal) and Guedra Guedra (Morocco). He has recently performed at the prestigious Lincoln Center Outdoors Festival\, New York City\, Slingshot Festival (Moogfest re-invented) and Festival Congedi in Italy. \nmimete is an experimental bedroom dreampop project influenced by Broadcast and Cocteau Twins. Layered ethereal vocals and glitchy synth patterns create otherworldly sounds. \nNoisteria Emission is the modular synthesizer project of Rusty Skelding of Dayton\, Ohio. The sound is a blend of the bizarre and abrasive. Taking cues from the experimental synthesis of the late 60’s west coast and combining it with modern technologies and approach creates a soundscape that gives a nod to the past yet reaches into the future.
