DESCRIPTION:On the evening of Friday\, October 25th we are proud to present experimental percussionist Sean Hamilton (CO)\, experimental multi-instrumentalist Owen Hopper (CMH)\, and experimental electronic musician Doug Leed (CMH). Doors 7:30\, BYOB\, all ages. $5-$10. \nAbout the artists:\nSean Hamilton is a percussionist\, composer\, and improviser whose interests primarily lie in the conjunctions of new music\, electroacoustic music\, free improvisation\, experimental music\, and interdisciplinary projects. \nSean has served as an artist-in-residence with Leeds Improvised Music and Experimentation (LIME) in Leeds\, UK\, and has been a featured artist on WKCR-FM New York\, WMNF Tampa\, WSLR Sarasota\, at the Asheville and Orlando Fringe Festivals\, the Anxious Sound Series in New Orleans\, MOXsonic\, Art in Odd Places Orlando\, and the SEAMUS National Conference. Sean is most active with his solo drum set and electronics project\, presenting performances throughout the United States\, United Kingdom\, Netherlands\, and Austria\, at places including the Skronk Sessions\, Oakland Freedom Jazz Society\, University of South Florida Contemporary Art Museum\, the Gallery at Avalon Island (Orlando)\, the University of Michigan\, New York University\, California State University Long Beach\, and the University of Leeds (UK). Additionally\, Sean has presented lectures on improvisation and composition at various universities in the US and United Kingdom\, including the University of Arizona\, New York University\, the University of South Carolina\, Goldsmiths University of London\, the University of Leeds\, and City University of London. Sean has also given numerous premieres of new works for percussion\, including Stuart Saunders Smith’s Queen Anne’s Lace for solo vibraphone\, an evening-length work commissioned by Sean. \nOwen Hopper is a Cincinnati Ohio based composer\, sound artist\, guitarist\, computer programmer\, and improviser. His music explores the relationships between the space it is recorded and presented in. \nDoug Leed(a.k.a. Dogboy) is an extemporaneous instrumentalist from Columbus. Having played guitar in traditional rock bands for over 30 years\, he now also plays a combination of touch pad synthesizers\, loopers\, and effects pedals to create psychedelic and experimental soundscapes. His music can be described as the space section of a live Grateful Dead performance meets improvised electronica.
