DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, August 26th\, we are proudly hosting saxophonist/improviser Danny Kamins (TX)\, saxophonist/improviser Jamison Williams (FL) and a collaboration between new media artist Krista Faist (CMH) and saxophonist Alex Burgoyne (CMH). Doors 7:30pm\, show begins at 8:00pm. Performance will take place at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center. $8.00 online\, $10 at the door. \nOur 2023 touring musician program is supported by New Music USA.  \nAbout the artists:  \nDanny Kamins is an improvising saxophonist based out of Houston\, TX. His current musical endeavors include playing in the Houston based groups Relative Dissonance\, CARL\, El Mantis\, and Etched in the Eye as well as directing the jazz program at Rice University. \nHe has also been booking shows in Houston that specialize in experimental/avant-garde music since 2016. Musicians he has presented include Peter Brotzmann\, Jaime Branch\, Claire Rousay\, Michael Foster\, Chris Pitsiokos\, Brandon Lopez\, Illicit Relationship\, and Gaute Granli. \nIn addition\, he maintains a studio of private saxophone students from the Houston and Cypress\, TX areas. He holds his B.M. in Jazz Saxophone Performance from Oberlin Conservatory\, and is a graduate of Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. \nMusicians he has performed/recorded with include Tatsuya Nakatani\, Alvin Fielder\, Ra Kalam Bob Moses\, Susan Alcorn\, Thomas Helton\, Adam Goodwin\, Vinny Golia\, Antonio Borghini\, David Leon\, Jeb Bishop\, Sandy Ewen\, Damon Smith\, Luke Stewart\, Michal Dymny\, Natan Kryszk\, Paulina Owczarek\, Wiktoria Zakubowska and NewMusic groups Le Train Bleu\, Loop 38\, and Transitory Sound and Movement Collective. \nJamison Williams is an American soprano saxophone player and multi-reed polymath specializing in experimental deconstructionism\, and extended techniques.  \nKrista Faist is a virtual reality artist based in Columbus\, Ohio. She has lived all over the United States and loves to travel and see the world. She holds a BFA in New Media from Penn State University and an MFA in Visual Arts from Columbus College of Art & Design in 2023. Her background is in oil painting\, computer science\, and nonprofit development. She also creates intricate\, colorful sculptures and encaustic paintings on plate glass as well as immersive video experiences. Her work explores childhood wonderment\, sentimentality and liminal states of reality.  \nSaxophonist Alex Burgoyne is an active member of the Columbus jazz community as a performer\, teacher\, and composer\, and bandleader. He frequently performs on various Columbus stages with a variety of jazz\, rock\, and latin bands\, and is featured on a number of recordings both as a sideman\, and as a featured soloist. He is a founding member of the Alex Burgoyne Quartet\, Liver Quiver and Small Songs.
