SUMMARY:May 2023 Frequency Fridays
DESCRIPTION:On the evening of Friday\, May 5th\, we are delighted to present sound artist Id M Theft Able (ME)\, experimental electronic musician/composer Jon Sonnenberg (OH)\, experimental electronic musician Marzi Margo (OH)\, and Turner Matthews and Jordan Reed’s experimental music project MEMZ Duo (CMH). Doors 7:30pm\, show begins at 8:00pm sharp. $9.25 prepaid\, $10 at the door. \nCovid protocols: All attendees are strongly encouraged wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. We will provide masks at the door. We kindly request that audience members refrain from bringing food and drinks into the space. \nSupporters of our 2022-2023 season include the Greater Columbus Arts Council\, the Ohio Arts Council\, the National Endowment for the Arts\, New Music USA\, and the Columbus Foundation. \nAbout the artists:  \nid m theft able performs within and without the realms of noise\, avant-improvisation\, sound poetry\, performance\, et c. et c. et c. using voice\, found objects\, electronics\, and whatever else is available…… He has given over a thousand performances across 4 continents\, in 40 countries in settings ranging from the scummiest of squats to the fanciest of festivals. \nJon Sonnenberg has been creating music and been obsessed with electronic music for most of his life.  He has performed all over the continental United States\, as well as Canada and Mexico.  He has opened for bands such as The Human League\, The Legendary Pink Dots\, Anything Box\, Joy Electric\, and Solvent\, and has performed at both small clubs and large festivals.  In addition\, he has been included in compilations with bands such as Gary Numan\, The Normal\, Ladytron\, Fad Gadget\, among others.  He was recently featured in the modular synthesizer documentary\, “I Dream of Wires”.  He has composed for\, recorded\, produced\, remixed\, and been a part of several bands\, including House of Wires\, Pivot Clown\, The Autumns\, Midsummer\, Optic Rain\, Strychnine Kiss\, Joy Electric\, Tyrone Wells\, Brian Campbell\, and many others.  In addition to his own album releases\, he has composed music for video games\, film\, art galleries\, and fashion shows. \nMEMZ is an experimental instrumental duo from Southeastern Ohio. MEMZ is Turner Matthews (percussion\, vocals\, guitars\, electronics) and Jordan Reed (saxophone). \nMarzi Margo is a writer\, musician\, and librarian living in Cleveland\, Ohio. Ve has been performing and releasing music under the name Let’s Fight! since 2006 and is currently one half of the experimental improvisation duo Elderberry Industries.
