DESCRIPTION:Our June Frequency Fridays show features experimental electronic musician/instrument maker Tim Kaiser (MN)\, experimental improv musician Chris Weldon (CMH)\, experimental electro-acoustic musician Lisa Miralia/Baat\, and experimental electronic musician Joo Won Park (OH). Date: Friday\, June 5 2015. Location: It Looks Like It’s Open (13 E. Tulane Av.\, 43202). Admission: $10\, $15 for 2. Doors open 8pm. Our Frequency Fridays 2014-2015 season is supported by a grant from the Greater Columbus Arts Council. \nAbout the performers:\nTim Kaiser has been producing experimental art at various venues for the past 30 years. His video\, installation and performance art projects have been presented in Germany\, Brazil\, Sweden\, Hong Kong\, Cuba\, Canada\, Philadelphia\, New York and Chicago.Tim has toured his live musical performances throughout the US including New York\, Chicago\, Washington DC\, Philadelphia\, Detroit\, Tulsa\, Pittsburgh\, Cincinnati\, Baltimore\, Providence\, Columbus\, Ashville\, Portland\, St.Louis\, Nashville\, Louisville\, Orlando\, etc…. He has received grants and awards from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council\, the Duluth Art Institute\, the Tweed Museum of Art\, the Minnesota State Arts Board\, the McKnight Foundation\, the Jerome Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. For more info\, please visit tim-kaiser.org. \nChris Weldon has spent the past 40 years choosing some sound sources\, making some sounds\, and building from there. He performs solo and with others\, combining electronic and acoustic instruments. He creates sounds that are both pleasing and antagonistic. Lately\, he has been playing with a 1/2 size cello\, a 28″ gong and a looper\, some effects and random other instruments. He is a good cook\, too. \nLisa Miralia (Baat) is a musician\, DJ\, and curator of independent sound art events and monthly event series in Cleveland\, Ohio. She performs in a number of projects involving experimental electronics\, electro-acoustic improv and composition\, noise and noise rock\, dark ambience\, and deep third eye drones. Baat is Lisa’s solo project\, incorporating elements of experimental electronics\, homebuilt and traditional instruments\, vocals\, ancients and otherly influences\, and sometimes performance art. In addition to performing and curating events\, Lisa also hosts the long-running Mysterious Black Box radio show each week on WCSB 89.3fm\, featuring a free-form and experimental music format. \nJoo Won Park (b.1980) wants to make everyday sound beautiful and strange so that everyday becomes beautiful and strange. He performs live with toys\, consumer electronics\, kitchenware\, vegetables\, and other non-musical objects by digitally processing their sounds. He also makes pieces with field recordings\, sine waves\, and any other sources that he can record or synthesize. Joo Won draws inspirations from Florida swamps\, Philadelphia skyscrapers\, his two sons\, and other soundscapes surrounding him. He has studied at Berklee College of Music and the University of Florida\, and currently serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Music at the Oberlin Conservatory. Joo Won’s music and writings are available on ICMC DVD\, Spectrum Press\, MIT Press\, and PARMA Recording.
