DESCRIPTION:On the evening of Friday\, December 2nd\, we are delighted to present experimental electronic musician Matchess (ORD)\, experimental electronic musician Federico Balducci (MA)\, v bizy (OH)\, and experimental music/dance duo Bobb Hatt and Luciana Arias (CMH). Doors 7:00pm\, show begins at 7:30pm sharp. $9.25 prepaid ($8 + $1.25 TicketTailor processing fee)\, $10 per ticket at the door. \nCovid protocols: All attendees are strongly encouraged wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. We will provide masks at the door. We kindly request that audience members refrain from bringing food and drinks into the space. \nSupporters of our Frequency Fridays 2022-2023 season will be announced October 1\, 2023. \nAbout the artists: \nChicago-based musician Whitney Johnson records lush\, haunting compositions under the name Matchess. Using pre-recorded cassette tapes\, organ drones\, delay-heavy vocals\, and occasional passages of harsh noise summoned out of her viola\, Johnson crafts a textural\, ethereal sound heavy on rhythm and atmosphere alike. First issuing her music via limited cassettes\, she released the exceptional Somnaphoria in 2015. Sacracorpa\, which appeared in 2018\, boasted clearer sound\, but was no less haunting. Her 2022 album\, Sonescent\, was more of a longform drone piece\, inspired by a meditation retreat. \nThe music of Puerto Rican guitarist and composer Federico Balducci can be described as a mixture of classical and ambient music with unusually intricate harmonies. Federico Balducci has a Bachelor’s Degree in Film Scoring from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Currently\, Federico mostly works on film scores for short films and documentaries. \nJayce Renner aka vbizy grew up in rural Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh. They studied sculpture at Kent State University and worked in the technology field. They co-founded the Little Noises series of noise music shows in Cleveland\, Ohio. They make electronic music using synthesis and keyboards. Jayce can often be found in the audience at Cleveland music venues. \nBobb Hatt’s music can be described as abrasive\, texturally complex and very\, very loud. In his live performances\, he uses tape loops\, overblown saxophone\, microphone feedback\, effects\, found objects and various methods of percussion. His influences include free jazz\, performance art\, harsh noise and power electronics. Luciana Arias is an experimental artist from Buenos Aires.
