DESCRIPTION:On the evening of Saturday\, August 12th we are proud to present free improvisational duo Dane Rousay (percussion) and Svetlana Zwetkof (voice) (TX)\, Caleb Miller (keyboard/saxophone/clarinet/electronics) and Nick Weckman’s (trombone/clarinet/voice/electronics) free improv duo Sun Trash (CMH)\, and Dairdre Scriven’s sound art/experimental music project beautyofmyland (CMH). The performance will take place at the It Looks Like Its Open gallery (13 E. Tulane Rd\, cmh 43202). Admission: $5. Doors 7:30pm. BYOB\, all ages. \nAbout the performers:\nDane Rousay is a drummer and composer based in San Antonio\, Texas. He works mostly by improvising on acoustic drum-kit\, looking for exciting or emotional overlaps of rhythm\, speed\, and texture. \nSvetlana Zwetkof is a sculptor\, papermaker\, linguist\, and sound artist/singer-songwriter based in San Antonio\, TX. \nSun Trash is a free music/ friendship duo of Nick Weckman (clarinet\, trombone\, voice\, loops\, uke\, trash) and Caleb Miller (sax\, MS-20\, keys\, clarinet\, laptop\, trash) based in Columbus\, OH. We simply strive to make something together. \nbeautyofmyland is a concept. It stands for the ‘world’ of Dairdre Scriven. She believes everything in life\, the good as well as the bad\, IS beautiful. She also believes that the environment and others that contribute to this ‘space’ create more beauty than she could ever create on her own. She feels it is her responsibility to open a space for her and others to ‘speak’ and be heard\, and for the guests to feel. Her mediums include but are not limited to: music\, mixed media art\, performance art\, photography\, poetry and hair styling. Traveling from musical genres like soul\, country\, blues\, punk\, Avant-Garde and noise. It creates quite a unique blend of sounds\, depending on the musicians playing. She plays with over 20 musicians\, creating a different ensemble for each show. Emphasizing the beauty in the way we musicians ‘speak’\, to each other and the way our guests hear us. Sometimes including other performance artists\, and video projection.
