SUMMARY:Coding with Color\, Shape\, and Sound with P5js and Open Processing: A Gentle Introduction
DESCRIPTION:About the workshop\nIn this multi-session workshop offered via Zoom\, participants will be introduced to coding with P5js through creating custom colors and shapes\, to which they will add interactivity. P5js is an open-source\, javascript multimedia programming environment. More specifically\, participants will learn to: \n\nNavigate P5js resources and tutorials available through openprocessing.org.\nWrite simple text-based programs in P5js.\nUnderstand basic digital color theory and learn to code color\, shapes and sound.\nUse the basics of functions\, code blocks\, utilizing loops\, and static and interactive variables.\nCode custom interactive multimedia projects.\nContinue their exploration of P5js and openprocessing.org\, and to expand your capabilities.\n\nWorkshop participants will use Openprocessing’s real-time collaborative coding features along with Zoom. Prior experience with coding is not a necessary prerequisite for taking part in this workshop. Participants can use a Chromebook\, Tablet\, PC or Mac. A free account at openprocessing.org\, Internet access and Zoom are required. Participants will not be required to purchase or install additional software or applications\, as they will be working with Openprocessing.org\, an online platform for artwork coded in P5js. \nUpon registration\, participants will receive a Zoom invitation from the instructor (Robbie Hunsinger) for each workshop session. General questions about Fuse Factory workshops and/or other programs can be directed to our Founding Director at: alison@thefusefactory.org. \nThis workshop was made possible with an Arts Partnership grant from the Ohio Arts Council. \nAbout the instructor:\nRobbie Lynn Hunsinger had an illustrious career as a classical oboist before becoming a cutting edge interactive artist and multimedia performer. She was an obbligato soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra\, toured France as an oboe d’amore soloist with The Robert Shaw Institute and toured Europe with the Chicago and Atlanta Symphony Orchestras. Hunsinger has taught for decades and held positions at Fisk University\, Watkins School of Art\, Northern Illinois University\, Elmhurst College and North Park University. She has taught students of all ages and has been a visiting teaching artist at University of Tennessee\, Tennessee Tech and Georgia Tech. She has presented creative code sessions at ITP Camp at New York University\, at the Performing Arts Exchange in Orlando and at Chamber Music America’s 2020 Conference in New York. Her interactive installations have been exhibited at the Georgia Tech Ferst Center\, The Frist Art Museum\, ISEA Chicago\, Chicago’s Thomas Blackman Gallery\, and Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art.
