DESCRIPTION:On the evening of Friday\, April 2nd\, we are delighted to present via our Twitch channel live-stream and prerecorded performances of electronic experimental musician/instrument builder Smomid (NYC)\, saxophonist/composer Noa Even (OH) and guitarist Carlos Cotallo Solares (OH)\, experimental electronic musician Dug Alcedo (CA)\, and experimental electronic musician/digital artist Doug Leed (CMH). The live-stream will begin promptly at 8:00pm. Donations of $5-$20 via paypal.me/thefusefactory are warmly accepted. \nOur Frequency Fridays 2020-2021 season is supported by the Greater Columbus Arts Council\, the Ohio Arts Council\, and the Columbus Foundation. \nAbout the artists:  \nSmomid is a project by Nick Demopoulos\, who is a performer\, musician and instrument builder. Smomid only utilizes instruments he has designed and built to perform interactive computer music. The name is derived from an acronym of his primary instrument: “String Modeling Midi Device.” Smomid music often features glitchy and scattered beats\, sampling\, abstract textures\, ambient spaces\, and improvisation. Smomid music draws on many varied influences and creates bizarre juxtapositions with deft sonic versatility\, with samples of heavy beats\, Gregorian Monks chanting and Taiko drum sounds all coexisting comfortably. \nNoa Even is a versatile saxophonist whose work as a performer and educator is dedicated to the arts of today. In addition to creating new music through commissioning and close collaboration with living composers\, she interprets traditional concert music and improvises. \nCarlos Cotallo Solares is a Spanish composer and performer currently living in Philadelphia. His work deals with subjects like quotation\, the relationship between music and language\, meter and tempo polyphony\, and improvisation. His pieces often focus on a single concept or technique that is interpreted in multiple ways. \nDug Alcedo (formerly known as First Dog) is an experimental electronic musician from San Diego who has released 41 albums since 2008. \nDoug Leed (aka Dogboy) is an extemporaneous instrumentalist from Columbus\, OH. Having played guitar in traditional rock bands for over 30 years\, he now also plays a combo of touch pad synthesizers\, loopers\, and effects pedals to create psychedelic and experimental soundscapes. Doug plays a similar setup in the band Cynders and also plays guitar and does vocals for Sonic Roach Destruction Unit.
