DESCRIPTION:Our April Frequency Fridays show features experimental music duo Lunar Creatires (NC)\, free improv duo Foster/Bennett (NYC/CMH)\, experimental electronic-rock band Little Flowers (MD) and theramin/bassoon duo Lyn Goeringer (OH) and Dana Jessen (OH). Date: Friday\, March 6\, 2015. Location: It Looks Like It’s Open (13 E. Tulane Av.\, 43202). Admission: $10\, $15 for 2. Doors open 8pm. Our Frequency Fridays 2014-2015 season is supported by a grant from the Greater Columbus Arts Council. \nAbout the performers:\nLUNAR CREATURE is the new project of Meg Mulhearn and David Lynch\, longtime musical partners who make rich mood music using violin\, guitar\, bass and synth. Mulhearn is a violinist who plays with a number of groups\, including U.S. Christmas\, Judas Horse and as a solo artist under the name Divine Circles. David Lynch is a guitarist\, bassist\, vocalist and synth player specializing in heavy\, sonic\, textural explorations. His projects include Judas Horse\, Enoch\, Hurlbat\, Hooded Hawks and his solo endeavor Reach For the Stars. They are currently working on an EP to be released in 2015. \nBen and Michael began playing together with drummer David Grollman in the trio BDM\, which toured the US in the summer of 2014\, delivering outlandish improvised performances that toed the line between music and performance art. Their duo project resulted from finding a strong musical affinity\, and a shared desire to push the sonic boundaries of the drums/sax duo over the edge. The two have extended their instruments’ vocabulary to the point of overlapping with each other (Michael turning the saxophone into a percussion instrument\, and Ben blowing on membranes like reeds). A wide-ranging sonic palette\, extreme shifts in dynamics and mood\, and a commitment to presence and vulnerability come together in the duo’s unpredictable interactions to create music that is unique to each performance. \nLittle Flowers is an experimental electronical-rock band based in Baltimore\,Maryland. The group is comprised of drummer Chris Meszler and electronic musician Jesse Stiles. Little Flowers was formed in 2013\, following Meszler and Stiles’ shared interest in creating an electronic band centered upon and around live performance. Little Flowers builds machines\, creates software\, makes weird electronic sounds\,hits drums very hard\,and does very weird things with time signatures\,tempo\,and structure.Little Flowers live shows are characterized by blinking lights\, disorienting video projections\, and Meszler and Stiles sweating like mutants as they freak out on stage. In 2014 Little Flowers issued their first physical release with the Baltimore-based vinyl/digital label AraçaRecs.
