Ignition 1.0
March 28-29, 2008
Art, science and technology have always been dependent on one another. They further one another through insights that each provide and change the view of the world we live in. These three elements help define the look, feel and style of the time in which we live they are essential to illustrating who we are as a culture.
The Fuse Factory, for its first exhibition and event, wanted to celebrate this intersection. Ignition 1.0 was a call to creatives in and around Ohio to share pieces that showcased convergence.
The
goal of the show was to create engaging, memorable experiences to bring artwork to everyday people in terms they understand and to inspire creativity in them, even in small ways.
Rescentris, an electronic laboratory notebook and scientific content management software company, housed the event– Their office, at Easton Town Center, for one night and two days, was transformed into a bgallery with performance and screening spaces.
Artworks included film, video, sculpture, performance and interactive pieces by Thomas Winningham, Anna and the Annadroids, Mark Webster, Tyler Bohm and Sean McHenry, among many others.
An informal panel discussion on the state of art and technology took place during the day on Sunday. Education, along with the need to create more opportunities within our own community, was much of the concern of the panelists.
Ignition 1.0 was the first major milestone in a series of many for a tiny group of passionate, creative individuals. They were looking for the opportunity help their community into the digital creative deluge and found it. It was a success. The show brought in a crowd of over 200, and set an amazing precedent for the work, shows and workshops that came after it.
