About the workshop
In this workshop, we’ll be learning the basics of projection mapping with Touchdesigner, a powerful (and freee!) multimedia development platform used by industry professionals to create stunning real-time immersive art installations, special effects for live events, and interactive experiences. This self contained class will look at three different projection mapping techniques, and teach the basics of how to overlay your interpretation of reality on top of the real world in real-time. We will begin with simple flat-mapping (VJ style) onto boxes, and move from there to more advanced mapping techniques using solvers to project extremely accurately. Finally, we will learn the basics of perspective correction, a technique used by projectionists to create mind-bending 3D illusions.

This course requires no previous experience, but a passing familiarity with digital art or attending the Intro to Creative Coding With Touchdesigner workshop will be helpful. Attendees are encouraged to bring their ideas to the workshop, and we will discuss ways that Touchdesigner can help make those ideas a reality.
