About the artists:

Travis Laplante is a saxophonist, composer, and qigong practitioner living in Brooklyn, New York and southern Vermont. Laplante leads Battle Trance, the acclaimed tenor saxophone quartet as well as Subtle Degrees, his newest project with drummer Gerald Cleaver. He is also known for his solo saxophone work and his longstanding ensemble Little Women. Laplante has recently performed and/or recorded with Trevor Dunn, Ches Smith, Peter Evans, So Percussion, Michael Formanek, Buke and Gase, Ingrid Laubrock, Darius Jones, Mat Maneri, and Matt Mitchell, among others. He has toured his music extensively and has appeared at many major international festivals throughout the US, Canada, and Europe. As a qigong student of master Robert Peng, Laplante has undergone traditional intensive training. His focus in recent years, under the tutelage of Laura Stelmok, has been on Taoist alchemical medicine and the cultivation of the heart. Laplante is passionate about the intersection of music and medicine. He and his wife are the founders of Sword Hands, a qigong and acupuncture healing practice based in Brooklyn, New York and Putney, Vermont.

Bob Bucko, Jr. resides and records in Dubuque, Iowa, a quarter mile from the Mississippi River. Relentlessly touring and uncompromisingly prolific, according to Joshua Tabbia (Already Dead Tapes & Records), Bucko “has spent the last several years establishing himself as a widely varied experimental artist. His output is consistently engaging and eclectic, while somehow never pulling the same punch twice.” Bucko also performs with the improvised drone collective Venereal Crush, free improv duo Sex Funeral, electro pop outfit Arc Numbers, alternative country rockers Dirty Swears, and is a recurring guest with Milwaukee’s rockist free jazz outfit One More Final I Need You. Bucko also regularly collaborates with many artists across genres, including Alexander Adams (Galaaxu), Stuart Dahlquist (Asva, Burning Witch), rapper Darko the Super (The Hell Hole Store), and experimental guitarist Storm Ross.

Greg O’Drobinak is a musician, phonographer, composer and engineer. He has performed with the FROG gamelan ensemble, the Chicago Scratch Orchestra, Chicago Phonography, the World Listening Project, Dissecting Norton and the NON Opera. His dexterity with realtime sound transformation and diffusion has been highlighted in such works as Timeports, a surround sound piece for processed didjeridoo, John Eaton’s microtonal piece Sor Juana’s Dream and Greg’s composition Batik Isen for computer and carillon performed at Rockefeller Chapel. His compositions for the NON Opera have been designed with infrasonic underlayments designed to evoke specific psychological states in the audience via his Acoustic Canons. His NON Opera instrumentation included the Acoustic Mirror of the World, a tactile platform Greg designed to stimulate one’s body with low-frequency audio from selected field recordings. Greg’s field recordings have been featured in concerts at the MCA in Chicago, the opera Dissecting Norton, the Cage Variations V and in the program he produced for framework radio, Worlds Unheard. Greg also designs, and performs with, a number of unique electro-acoustic invented instruments constructed from found materials. These instruments are often heavily processed to enhance the abstract qualities of their sound.

O(f)verandas is the experimental ambient guitar and electronic music project of Bernard Iannone since 2011. His sounds have been described as Experimental drone panoramas, otherworldly guitar loops, and psychedelic ambient collage.
