6/17: Intro to Circuit Bending Workshop at the 2nd Annual Festival of Improvised Music
On Sunday, June 17th, we will be offering an Intro to Circuit Bending workshop as part of the 2nd Annual Festival of Improvised Music (location: 4820 Beard Road, Sunbury, OH 43074). The workshop will run from 1:00pm – 2:00pm, and a $10 donation is requested to cover the cost of materials.
Workshop description:
Learn how to take apart an old electronic toy and make a brand new musical instrument! At the end of this workshop participants will be able to identify and explore the basic components of a typical circuit board, and learn the basics of soldering and how to install output jacks. Tools and components will be provided. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring one or two battery-powered devices (with batteries!) to the class. The best toys to bring are older toys (1990 and older) that make sounds; those from Texas Instruments, Casio, and Fisher Price are especially hackable. No previous electronics experience is required.
