Intro to Modeling and Animation in Blender
Blender is an amazingly versatile 3-D animation program that is absolutely FREE. (That’s right. FREE.)
It can be used to create animations for a wide range of media, including its own game engine, interactive applications, technical simulations and, of course, storytelling. This workshop is an introduction to the Blender interface. You’ll learn how to model and move objects around a 3-D scene.
- Learn fundamentals of working in 3-D space
- Begin to understand the Blender interface & workflow
- Use polygonal models to create a chess board, chess pieces and table scene
- Set up scenes and learn the basics of composition
- Position and animate the camera
- Set keyframes and do simple animations using the timeline
- Export models for use in other programs (like Flash/Papervision)
- Render an animated sequence & begin to understand output settings
(We will not be covering character animation object deformations.)
No computer necessary. If you want to work off of your own laptop, please have Blender 2.49 installed and bring a 3-button or wheel mouse.
