More PHP – the Zend Framework

The popular Zend Framework presents Web developers with a powerful PHP-based solution for creating and managing Web sites. In this three hour workshop attendees will gain valuable insight into the Zend
Framework by following along with the creation of a simple blogging platform. Topics covered include:
- MVC Framework concepts
- Creating and configuring a Zend Framework-powered project
- Managing configuration data and the project lifecycle
- Creating and managing design templates
- Processing and validating form data
- Interacting with the database using the Zend Framework’s powerful
- Creating and managing user accounts
- Taking advantage of Zend Framework components to extend your Web site
Zend_Db component
To participate in this workshop, participants are strongly encouraged to bring a laptop installed with the following software:
- PHP 5.2.4 or newer
- MySQL 4.1 or newer
- A Web server, preferably a recent version of Apache
- Your favorite code editor

About the instructor: W. Jason Gilmore is founder of W.J. Gilmore, LLC, a publishing and
consulting firm based out of Columbus, Ohio. A professional Web developer and technical writer with more than twelve years of experience, Jason is the author of five books, including the bestselling “Beginning PHP and MySQL: From Novice to Professional” (currently in its third edition), and the recently published “Easy PHP
Websites with the Zend Framework”. He has published more than 100 articles within popular publications such as Linux Magazine, and is a regular contributor to Developer.com.
