Robert Weschler of Palindrome to perform at Wild Goose Creative Monday, May 4 8-10pm
The Fuse Factory and Wild Goose Creative are proud to present a performance by Robert Weschler, dancer, choreographer, and artistic director of Palindrome, an intermedia performance group based in New York City and Germany.
Robert’s performance will feature a combination of modern dance, experimental music, and visuals created by motion capture technology that responds to the dancers’ movements. From the Palindrome website (http://palindrome.de):
“Palindrome is a performance group that uses Motion Tracking technology.
We are known for our interactive dances. Using bio-sensors and motion tracking technology, the music, lighting or video projections are controlled by the dancers’ movement….
…The music and images that accompany the dancers are never completely fixed, never exactly repeatable. This gives a live edge to everything we do and that is something we find very important.
Much of the work uses motion tracking. This means sensors are used to measure the body’s movements or physiological features and the data is sent to the computer. From there special software lets us use it to manipulate media, such as sounds, music, stage lighting or video projections….”
This is really a special opportunity – Robert is making a pit stop especially for us on his way back to Germany! So come on over and take part (there will also be an audience participation component, or so I’ve been told…)
