Soldering 101

Workshop level: Beginner to intermediate

Cost: $25 ($15 for instruction, $10 for materials)

Learn how to solder with this hands-on soldering workshop! Participants will learn a range of soldering techniques, including copper wire soldering and soldering for electronics, jewelry, and stained glass, and will be introduced to basic solder and flux types along with safe soldering practices and soldering iron maintenance. The instructor will also cover de-soldering techniques. Participants will have the opportunity to try their hand with soldering irons and small propane torches. No prior experience with soldering is necessary.

About the instructor: Jason is a Ph.D. student at the Ohio State University and works for Dr. Glenn Daehn doing high strain rate metal forming. He received an undergraduate degree in metallurgy and manufacturing engineering from MSU. He lives in Hilliard with his fiance.
