Workshop description: Searching for viable alternatives to commercial software applications and need a helping hand? Fuse Factory to the rescue! This workshop is geared toward those who have heard of Open Source and would like to get their feet wet via a hands-on introduction to a range of open source software apps. The first part of the workshop will cover the history of open source and a few commonly used open source applications such as OpenOffice, Joomla, and Drupal. The second part of the workshop will introduce participants to open source applications for artmaking, such as Blender, Audiomulch, Nodebox, GIMP, Processing, Arduino, and more! Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring a wireless-enabled laptop.
